Yeah! It's getting freaking annoying! I just haven't figured out how to force moderation of all first posts yet. But I will do.

Anyone out there with experience of MyBB?

I've implimented Google reCAPTCHA so hopefully that's the last we will see of them. I also implimented it on the website comments. These are moderated so it wasn't a big deal, except for the fact that I got around 20 emails a day!

Phew!

As long as you don't resort to telling the spam bots, "Fly you fools!"

Okay all, we've gone back to our original system of personally activating every user than signs up to this forum. There doesn't appear to be any technology currently out there that will keep those pesky spam bots out. They're cleverer than Google it seems.

Of course, this does mean that it's an entirely manual process for us to go through before you can post on the forum but we think it's work it to protect you from meaningless viagra junk.

As a side note, we have no way of telling whether your signup is genuine or a spam bot other than to look at the username you choose and the email address. If you pick random characters in either of these two sign up details, we may think you're a spam bot and your account will be deleted. Spambots use names like 'JulXiisam' and similar crap in their email addresses, so just stay clear of that kind of thing and you'll be patched through as fast as we can get around to it.

Thanks for bearing with us. Smile
