Need a website expert!
#1
Hi all!

Just wondering if there are any website experts out there that might be able to answer a question I have? I'm looking at Google Webmaster Tools, specifically the 'fetch as Google' option. When I use this option on the Mama website, it returns this (which looks right to me):

Quote:HTTP/1.1 200 OK
Date: Thu, 16 Aug 2012 08:16:04 GMT
Server: Apache
X-Pingback: http://www.mama-genesis.co.uk/xmlrpc.php
Connection: close
Transfer-Encoding: chunked
Content-Type: text/html; charset=UTF-8

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" dir="ltr" lang="en-US">

<head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11">
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" />
<title>Mama - The UKs 'all era' Genesis tribute band!</title>
<link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" title="Mama Genesis Tribute Band RSS Feed" href="http://www.mama-genesis.co.uk/feed/" />
<link rel="pingback" href="http://www.mama-genesis.co.uk/xmlrpc.php" />

This code is actually a lot longer. I just cut it short for ease of reading.

However, when I look at my Carillon Video Weddings page using the same 'fetch as Google' option in Google Webmaster Tools, I get this return:

Quote:HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently
Date: Thu, 16 Aug 2012 08:24:04 GMT
Server: Apache
Location: http://www.carillonvideo.co.uk/weddings/
Content-Length: 248
Connection: close
Content-Type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//IETF//DTD HTML 2.0//EN">
<html><head>
<title>301 Moved Permanently</title>
</head><body>
<h1>Moved Permanently</h1>
<p>The document has moved <a href="http://www.carillonvideo.co.uk/weddings/">here</a>.</p>
</body></html>

Does anyone know why this may be the case? Does it affect my SEO on the Carillon Video Weddings website? Webmaster Tools tells me this:

Quote:The page seems to redirect to itself. This may result in an infinite redirect loop.

Is that bad? What can I do to correct this?

The Carillon Video website is actually made up of four websites like this:

Carillon Video Home (http://www.carillonvideo.co.uk)
Carillon Video Weddings (http://www.carillonvideo.co.uk/weddings)
Carillon Video Music (http://www.carillonvideo.co.uk/music)
Carillon Video Corporate (http://www.carillonvideo.co.uk/corporate)

I'm only using the home page and the /weddings website at the moment. I just want to make sure that Google is indexing my site correctly and whether I'm being penalized on SEO because of the structure of the site or this mysterious '301 redirect.'

Thanks. Smile
